Other Help Topics :: A How to on saving config and bookmarks plz

I am not sure, but either restore=xxx will speed up the boot process, or maybe it is required when your KNOPPIX file is not located in the same place as your backup.tar.gz file.
Doesn't matter what drive it's on.  If you do not specify a partition, and do not use "norestore", then apparently all readable partitions are searched until a "backup.tar.gz" is found.  Specifying a drive is particularly useful when you have multiple backups from which to choose, and i assume you're correct about speeding up the boot process...although i can't see it making a noticeable difference unless you have a bigillion partitions
hey, thanks guys! it works. do i have to restore every time b4 I shutdown? :D how do I find the program files? Adding the home/dsl/.mozilla backs up my browser stuff but can't seem to find it in emelfm directories. the links on my browsers stay but cant seem to get the firefox extension to work. sorry guys, i'm really new to this but hv loadsa enthusiasm to learn :)
All files and directories that start with a period "." character are considered to be a hidden file in unix/linux

Press the "H" button at the top of the emelfm window and you should be able to see them.

Once you specify your backup location it should be automatically done when you shutdown.  At least this is how it works in my embedded USB system.

  hey thanks a lot cbagger01! thank you for the enlightenment  :D  still cant seem to back up the extensions tho. is there something i should add to the filetools.lst?
