After installing DSL to my USB drive (256MB) I would like to be able to save data on the second larger partition, but when I plug it in under windows I get the first "boot" portion of the drive. Anyone know how to access the second partition from windows? Also, while in DSL I am unable to write to either partition without being root (i.e using "sudo") Anyone know how I can change that?

Winblows will not recognize the second partition on your usb flash drive. I ended up having one partition so i could use it with DSL or windblows and just created directories (folders) to keep everything separate.

when using emelfm, i do not need to use it as 'super user' to save stuff to my flash drive. however, having to use sudo is safe, as it will keep you from making more mistakes if you're anything like me. but, no, i don't know how to change that.

Yah I think I will un-partition it and just create a different folder for all my other stuff ... although it would be great if windows would look into reading partitions, or maybe someone created a program that will read partitions on disks? That would be a usefull tool, although that would mean that I would have to install the software on all the computers I use the USB in ... *shrug* or just boot to DSL.

followed by enter. Ten you wil see 3 parameters are given, 50 and 2 other numbers. Change the 50 into the size you prefer (max. 255 I think) by going into insert mode (hit i) altering the text, quitting insert mode (hit ESC) and save the file with

Rebuiding your stick with this altered script should result in a larger first partition which can be edited in windows. Make sure not to delete/alter any DSL files while doing so.

I tried out and booting was possible. After adding data into windows I didn't try yet.

REQ: Wouldn't it be a good idea to build in this option again by default. MP3 players for instance need this option to still be able to play songs. Besides that it is wanted by those having a large stick to use in windows.
