I have download dsl and ther is one file that is 48 Mb, should i only burn that file if i want to run dsl from cd?
I use nero, what should i burn it lika an data cd or iso or what?

hope you anser becuse they dont do on other linux distrubaition!

Burn it as an ISO file.

the file name should have been something like dsl-0.9.3.iso about 50meg in size

first i burn a file named knoppix 48 mb, i burnit like a iso.
then i burn the hole mapp called dsl-0.9.3 like an iso but windows comes up!
what should i do?
could you burn it on a cd-rw?

do not extract the iso...leave it as is.
Before burning you should check the md5 to make sure the download is intact...i'm not sure how you'd do this in Windows unfortunately.

in Nero you'll want to burn it as ISO (it may be "burn cd image" or something similar).
You do NOT want to burn it as a data file, or you'll just end up with a CD containing the ISO file...useless for anything but a backup.

If you've burned it properly as a bootable disk, but windows still comes up, you'll need to change your bios settings to enable booting to cdrom.
When the computer first begins to boot, press del or esc or one of the F keys (depends on your bios...it may say which key to press for setup at the bottom of the screen). In bios you'll need to find the "boot sequence" option, which may be in a submenu such as "advanced setup". Make sure it lists cdrom prior to harddrive.

I just got nero 5 to do this after 4 attempts.

Nero is simple to use, as it supports the .iso image already.

From the File Menu, select Burn Image, and an Open dialog pops up where you can select the dsl.iso you downloaded.

A Write CD dialog then pops up with the Burn tab up front, select Disk-At-Once (not sure Track-At-Once will work), select the burn speed (slower speeds are supported by older machines better?), select Finalize CD (again, not sure this is needed), and then click the Write button.

My new CD did not show any files under Windows, but it booted up to DSL just fine.
