Other Help Topics :: Frugal mydsls
Hello there,
I finally got my laptop loaded with a frugal install of DSL!
Will have a go with the filetool.lst backup scheme (or whatever the file's called).
When I try to move mydsls that I want to kept into /mnt/hda2/optional, it shows that the directories on there are owned by 'staff'.
I presume I just need to change the owernership of the drive/directories so that I can backup my programs and other files
If so how do I change permissions for an entire hdd?
Well found the 'chown' command via a forum search. Tested with tcltck8.3.dsl and amsn.tar.gz. On boot up, neither of the files were loaded, I had to manually load the tcltck package using the mydsl loader. Also, the amsn package said it did load, but the icon on the desktop did not appear and nothing was seen in the dsl menu.
Is there a way of getting the pacakges to be autobooted? ie so theyre there when fluxbox starts?
permissions should be set like this
user: dsl
group: staff
