Just wondering what kernal is used in DSL? Basicly I am looking for a OS to strip down to run a router. So all that I am realy looking for is support for 3Com ethernet cards (3c905 and 3C996), Iptables, DCHP, a basic web server, and maybe perl. I have used Red Hat in the past but now the basic install is getting so big its no longer feasable. If I can get it striped down below 30Megs for above I can actual load it into the bios space on the hardware and do away with the HD all together (currently the number one point of failure of the system). anyone have any ideas or suggestions of better fit linux packages? Thanks Wire |

SmoothWall Express is an open source firewall distribution based on the GNU/Linux operating system. Linux is the ideal choice for security systems; it is well proven, secure, highly configurable and freely††† available as open source code. SmoothWall includes a hardened subset of the GNU/Linux operating system, so there is no separate OS to install. Designed for ease of use, SmoothWall is configured via a web-based GUI, and requires absolutely no knowledge of Linux to install or use. |
