Other Help Topics :: Nameserver change to other IP address

Hi, I do not use DSL linux for long, yet I'm moderate user of *nix systems.
I have a couple of machines at my home, and I connect them trough a one "router" machine which has address 192.168.0.2. Remember the 2 at the end. Beacuse I had problem of fighting the router and machine for address 192.168.0.1 I use instead .1 at the end, .2.
Well this seem to be a major problem for DSL since it has some auto maker of resolv.conf of nameserver to 192.168.0.1- which makes me to change always on restarts to 192.168.0.2. Oh and yes- I used LOTS of time the netcardconfig, which always do nothing usefull at reboot. And that is realy annoying.

Does someone knows how to change this?
Since I look at script of starting the network, I seems that there is no part of where it save the value of nameserver of netcardconfig into file. Save just the IP addresses and bunch of other stuff.

Tnx for helping me!

I don't know. I always use DHCP so I can't help much.
Does it work if you boot with:

dsl nodhcp

and then run "netcardconfig" after bootup?

Have you looked at the wiki?  It has a FAQ that addresses saving your static IP.  I used their method & it works fine for server which is running behind router with a static ip of 192.168.0.5.
