As my user name should indicate, Im new to this.

Burning the DSL-N iso to disk was a first for me, and even though Ive used Mandrake in the past, this is basically the first time Ive used a linux distro that required I actually think to use it.

So heres my situation....

I got DSL-N running off the live CD and everything works except for the fact that my desktops colors are completely inverted. It doesnt BOOT with this color inversion, however as soon as anything actively occurs on the desktop, like opening the menu, everything goes wonky.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You downloaded an alpha release that is sure to have many bugs. Don't judge your experience now with what it will be in a month or two. For the near future download and use the regular dsl. That will give you a better idea of what to expect from dsl-not in the future, only more so because it won't have the self imposed limit of 50 megabytes of dsl and it will be using the newer 2.6 series of kernel.

That probably has something to do with your video card and the xvesa settings not liking each other. You will need to experiment a little. The F2 and F3 keys will be your guide. The file to open to change the settings is xsetup.sh and you can access it from the desktop right click menus as well. After you change your settings you need to ctrl-backspace to exit the desktop, the run startx to get back to the desktop with your new settings.

I guess I didnt realize this was still an Alpha phase project. I have a copy of regular DSL and have no issues with it at all, so Ill play with that while I wait for the updated versions of DSL-N.

Doobit, thanks for your help. Ill give it a shot, but Im kind of concerned that I'll have to do the setting adjustment everytime I boot as Im running off a liveCD and unless Im totally mistaken, the changes I make wont exist on next boot without writing to the disk, yes? If thats the case Im kind of SOL (no CD Writer here, used a family members computer to burn the ISO). Or DO the settings remember themselvs from one boot to the next?

With the live CD I typically save my backup to a USB pendrive.
