OK. I've figured out how to load up mydsl applications. (The Galaga game rocks!)

Two questions:

1) I've read the instructions on the DSL wiki about saving applications permanently. But, I'm not able to actually make it happen. Could somebody give me some simpler, step-by-steps on how to do this?

2)How do I save my Word Processing Documents so that they are there next time I boot up?

Best,
Tom

The answer depends on how you are running DSL-N, liveCD, frugal hard drive, frugal pendrive zip, frugal pendrive hdd, traditional hard drive.

But start by selecting a backup device by using the DSLpanel and click backup/restore button. Then everything in your home/dsl will be in the backup.

Also select the Help button from the DSLpanel. Do this without browser running, as it will want to start the browser and the read the Getting Started document.

Then come back and give us more info on how you are running DSL-N.

OK, a few more questions.

Right now, I am running in live CD mode.

1) Thanks for the help backing up my word processing docs. That works great. In REALITY, when I do that, are the documents being saved on the CDROM disk?

2) Is there any way to save them onto a DIFFERENT CDROM Disk? What if I run in DSL toram mode?

3) I'm still having difficulty saving myDSL applications. Does the CD have to be remastered to save those? Or is it a backup function. I read that they have to be in a myDSL folder to be saved. If I save them in a myDSL folder and do the backup function, will that do it?

Best,
Tom

in order to use the backup/restore, you need a seperate device, usually either your hard drive or a usb stick. I personally use a usb stick, so all my files are on that.
